About

Scott Pollack founded SRPlanning to develop planning approaches that start with people rather than facilities.  Scott helps clients efficiently deploy capital resources to achieve the greatest impact by understanding constraints, uncovering opportunities and designing innovative ways to get people what they need, where and when they need it.  He is part of a network of experts that, from digital ethnography to mapping and data visualization, are working to expand planning’s speed and capabilities.

A recently retired principal at Boston based architecture and planning firm Arrowstreet, he led a range of large scale planning and architectural projects for over 35 years, including master planning, housing, retail, hospitality and commercial life sciences.  He oversaw planning and innovation projects for the National Park Service, the Office of the Secretary of Defense, the Army Corps of Engineers as well as the Departments of the Air Force, Army and Marines.

He is an active member of the Urban Land Institute and, through his work with community developers , is helping to rethink how to create workforce and supportive housing in the Boston area.

Projects:

  • Conceptualized a digital twin, multi-objective decision making (MODM) planning module enabling leaders to interact with city-scale visualizations to quickly understand planning scenarios and their consequences.

  • Worked with a team of data scientists to create an interactive, web-based master planning portal for Fort Carson, bringing together systems-of-records for facilities and existing planning policies and ensuring that the planning / facility communities are using consistent data and procedures in both their day-to-day and long-range planning activities.

  • Led planning and facilities teams developing a new business model for the entire Air Force Lodging enterprise.

  • Worked with the Office of the Secretary of Defense, Military Community and Family Policy (MC&FP) on a Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) project to transform the current MWR service delivery model into a system-of-systems approach more appropriate to a 21st century all-volunteer Joint Force.

  • Led planning for the Healthy Base Initiative (HBI), transforming and innovating the food service ecosystem and active living environments on military installations worldwide.
