How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love Complexity

Cities are systems-of-systems, full of complicated, entangled interactions between inhabitants and their surroundings. Complex Adaptive Systems (CAS) present a way to observe the built environment as it changes over time and re-establish planning based on the where, when and what of habitation. This approach would be centered on people, more resilient and better able to deal with inevitable, unintended consequences of societal change, events, and policies.
